I've graduated from Otago University (NZ) with a BCom (finance econ). Work in the Finance industry since 2007 so only took me a year and a half to completely ruin the global market, pretty pleased with myself there! I don't know what I want to do with myself........

2nd in the $1500 guaranteed

Came 2nd for a $300 cash, only 77 players so great +EV there.

Got really lucky a few times with under 20 to go and then again a few times on the FT.

Last hand went down blinds 2000/4000. With A10 os on the button I raised to 8k, he reraised me the 16k, I accidently reraised to 24k instead of all-in (I had 45k to his 65k) but we got all the money in preflop and it was a tight one when he showed KQ spades. Flop hit us both hard, unfortunately him with broadway and me with 2 pair, no full house so that was it. I would have taken in a 92k pot and left him with 21k, but hell I cant moan at 2nd after getting very lucky earlier.

Didnt get a snapshot of the 2nd place congrats but you'll have to trust me that im brianstorm.

Sick run

After losing a buy-in at Waimea ... don't ask, I decided to play at Pueblo, mainly because the frame of mind i was in needed focus and raising the stakes would make require me to concentrate instead of just having the 'meh' attitude.

Brought in for the $100 and brought in this pot quite early, a bit of risk considering the limp raise cus thats my move!!! and I know what it means when I play it, but this guy was going all-in in some weird positions, so I took a while to think it over before putting him on something like a middle pair. When the cards where flipped, no A no K, after the flop no A no K no heart on the turn please cus poker.com is 'infamous' for runner runner, but it worked out ok. Nice $221 pot.

Flucuated between $240 and $210 before my last hand came, I was UTG and decided yeah thats enough, im not gonna pay my BB next hand so sit out, AQ raise to $3, flop didnt hit me but I got a gutshot so I fire in $3.5 to see where I stand and to pay off if I hit that K I need, turn brought it so I hold the nuts looking at a $20 pot. So I try my overbet move that screams weakness (the same one that had killed me in the tournament earlier this morning), and I get a call :) The river is an A, no flush but we probly both have a Q I think, but nonetheless I gota try and get maximum if he dont, so I bet $42 to put him all in:

So I leave that table with $293 which is nice :)

My bankroll at PokerNortica is now a healthy $543.60 on the $200 deposited 24 hrs ago. Not bad, not bad at all.

Gutted

Didnt do so good in the $5 satellite tourney but then this happened in the depositors freeroll:

I dont regret this move at all just gutted at the outcome.

I had a rather loose table image because I was fellow chip leader at the table (he had 47 more chips than me lol). So I went in on the flop hoping he hit the J. It got the desired result, just not the outcome. In retrospect perhaps I couldve waited until the turn but I think the result would have been the same. I got $5 for 20th place, but I am confident I would have come top 3 because this wouldve put me in top chip with 28000 vs 2nd place 17k. I considered him my only threat at the table as well because I could smash everyone else there with ease, he seemed like a good player, but maybe I overated him, hmm im not sure what I would do if the roles were reversed, its probly 50/50 whether id call.

Gonna play the 2245 1500 Guaranteed later, so mad I missed the 2k g ($17.5 entry) as it only had 86 players, thats some good overlay!!!

Unfortunately I didnt realise my computer time and PokerNordica times were a little off so when my alarm went off, rego had closed, gutted.

EDIT: Busted out of $1500 very early, 78 players only, good +EV. I was right to bluff but he made a crazy call, but good on him.

Went to some Waimeas afterwards. Up to $65 on each b4 calling it a break, might play later dont knw tho. A little disappointed at my play on one hand with J9 in the SB no limpers me and BB to the flop. 8 10 Q. I fire $2 into a $1 pot, and he raises me to $4. I raise to 10 and he folds. In retrospect probly called for a call, check on turn and let him fire again then raise but meh I was 100% in the right mindset to be playing 100%

I dont mind the aggressiveness here but it was unlikely he had somethng great Q8 10 8 at best because there was no pre-flop action. He did seem the aggressive sort but didnt work out this time :(

Wow long time no post

Ok so after never updating my blog in a looong time im gonna try and post frequently, probly too much!!!

Ive set up a new account at pokernortica as its a skin of poker.com and I was able to use the initial depositors coupon for a sign up bonus. Played approx 190 hands on 2 Pueblo tables (6 man 0.5/1 NL 6 max) brought in for $100 on each and came away with $139.72 and $67.23 after being up to $200 and down to $30 on each table.

This set me on a tilt to the BJ table as I wasnt happy at how I lost a few pots just before leaving, details below. I said to myself, fuck it I'll bet one fat $25 bet and if i win $10 afterwards for a while until im up a bit of back level, or quit if lost the first. Hand didnt look good with a 4 vs dealers A but managed to hit to 20 and win. Before you start lecturing me, I know BJ is bad and im trying to phase it out!!! but self control avades me sometimes.

So I got back up to $275 which was my high point for poker so I called it quits and didnt want to get greedy.

Hand highlights:

Top left: dont call a bluffer at poker.com, he will hit!!! feared AK a lil' bit so I didnt go all in on river, but quite tidy for a $33 pot (called $2 from SB, bet $3 (call), bet $4(call), bet $8(call)]

TR: Reraise from SB from $4 to $10 (call), check flop, call all-in opponent AJ. pot:$68.72

BL: Raise pre-flop to $3 (call) flop $2 (call) turn $2 (call) river bet pot - $15.5 (call) pot:$44.5

BR: preflop: limp raise pot (13.5), flop (all in 32.41) call. ohh MF!!!!

Was quite upset at the last hand as I was gonna leave the next hand as I said one more round, and I was UTG. Decided on the limp raise because table was loose and villian was actually going all-in frequently and table was raising pre-flop often. Unfortunately this guy got lucky on the flop and the table/his image helped him in making the call. I probably would make this call anyway unless said player had me matched in $$$ because I would probly put them on at least a nut flush draw and not worth the risk.

In other news I have graduated from Otago University, and now work for Guardian Trust in Auckland, NZ. Pretty decent salary and the like and im enjoying what im doing which matters most. I intend to study some papers later in the year as we have $2000 study grant and $500 bonus for each paper passed so I'm probly gonna try and do 2 papers extra-murially. Im also thinking of alternatively doing my CFA's which will be hardout so I will have to do some research into that.

Im Back .....

Well I haven't played for some time now but poker.com has now completed its upgrade to version 4.0 and is seeing a lot more traffic. I was invited to partake in the beta testing which was good and ordered a few things from the comp points store with the comp points they rewarded me with.

One new feature is hand history onto the hard drive which is good so I will post some up once I have some highlights for ya.

Ive managed to make $80 so far but without a few beats (AA vs KK preflop for $60 pot) and a few others it could be more but im not complaining. Im mostly playing 0.25/0.5 NL or 0.5/1 NL 6 max tables with a few heads up and 6 man SnGs thrown in.

I also played at titan but the connex was horrible so as soon as i had cleared my 1st deposit bonus I was outa there. Ive got a few tourney credits left so I might use them all in one tourney and see if I can cash and land some $$$$.

Pretty tired so ill be on my way but before I leave big-ups to astinaguy, my mate from high school who came 13th in the blogger tour season 2 final. He did awesome all the way through to the final and sadly didnt win for the aussie millions package but scored himself a pretty nice chipset along with the cash from each event he final tabled.

Poker.com Blogger Tour Season 2 Event #3

Event 3 is scheduled to start 9 am Sunday morning NZ time, I look forward to another hangover blogger tour event :)

Well what can I say, you cant play much poker with a raging hangover. I was sitting out the first 20 mins, but I came in a lost my chips within a handful of hands because there was a construction crew working in my head!!!! Im just gonna keep my head up and grind away at trying to earn some points but at this stage im well behind the top 20 list unless I hit a hosting bounty because these bounties and hosting bonuses just give too many points to be fair.

Im also conceding the commentary to Imjusthere4thebeer's blog, he has some great coverage so far and even a few extra's. I will add a link to his blog soon.

More exams so more study for the next week.
